SUMMER

I did my work placement in a print room, i got to meet lots of clients, learn more effective ways to print, i learnt more about what i want to do when i finnish.I realised that i couldnt work in a print room for ever i would miss doing my own work too much, but its a start and i would take the job to get me started,it would be to much of an opportuinity to miss.

Last year i started to enjoy the drawing side of things more, so over the summer i started to research differnt illustrators to see if it was the route i wanted to take this year, and to gather more influence.I looked further at Christine Berrie, an illustrator i started to look at last year, over the summer i tried to get in touch with her to see if i could go visit her, unfortunatly she said that wasnt possible but she did give me some good advice and told some usefull websites to look at.
I also started looking at Adrian Johnson, hes done alot of images for robinsons fruit shoots, i looked at him because of his use of colour which is something i dont do in my work, and i want to start doing it this year, he uses block colours and simple lines, which is something that technically i think i could manage.
I also started looking at political illustration aswell as part of my dissertation,im doing it on poster propaganda from the first world war onwards whilst reading about it it has informed me about the history of propaganda, and i started to realise how design can effect history.Its interesting to see how Graphic design has developed since this time, its seen as an era that shaped design and the first ' Graphic designers' were born.I also hope that i take influence from the type of design, its directness and boldness.


This year i am going to try and combine all these influences and my work experience to produce a portfolio that i am pleased with that combines illustration and skills in illustrator.
